Question

Hi everyone,

Now I know all of you have good advice about parenting. Sam is going to have his first baby at the end of this month--a girl--and wondering what is some good parenting advice to give him. Or what baby books did your kids enjoy the most? Was thinking about getting him some fun books and wondering which books were big hits with your kids; I am sure if your little ones enjoyed the books, Sam's little one will as well.

    well, i don't have kids, but william donald loved goodnight moon as a baby. also, runaway bunny. and king bidgood's in the bathtub. caldecott award winners are always worth looking at. exciting for a girl to be coming into the family!

    Also Make Way for Ducklings is a wonderful classic that our Niece and Nephews have loved.

    So so so much fun! We were so excited to hear the news! Congrats to Sam. Do you have an address for them?

    For first books we really like the thick paged board books. Our favorite read alouds are:
    1. The Hungry Caterpillar (they love sticking fingers in the holes)
    2. Goodnight Moon (a favorite of each of our boys)
    3. Each Peach Pear Plum

    We love all those previously recommended books, especially Goodnight Moon. A few other favorites are:

    Where the Wild Things Are- by Maurice Sendak

    I am a big fan of Jim Trelease's book - The Read Aloud Handbook...He is on his sixth edition and it is a handbook for choosing books for children, by age and by lessons that are taught...it is annotated which I really like. Loved seeing you last week, Nai!
