American Idol this week

So, David Archuleta is my favorite this season, and I thought the girls didn't do so well this week. Sad night last night! I actually like Alexandrea (even though I really don't like how she pronounces her name), and felt sad for the blonde girl (Elaine?--we keep making up names for people and then I don't know their real names--brittany for kady, Orlando for the Orlando look alike (Luke?)) I called both guys and wasn't too surprised with the girls. Also, I don't think Micheal Johns has been doing as well.

But here's the big question: If you were singing next week, which Beatles song would you choose?

Grandma's Birthday

Happy Birthday, Mom!

I love Mom because:
She is my enthusiatic cheerleader.
She has been a fabulous Mom.
She was a great cook and a fantastic homemaker.
She understood teenaged girls' need for cute clothes.
She is fun to be with.
She loves to be with her family.
She likes to be happy.
She supported me when I was under pressure.
She loves to laugh.
She enjoys sports and is fun to kid about them.
She is a good sport.
She keeps herself up.
She was a mom of whom we were all very proud.
She made holidays memorable and fun.
She taught us how to work and to keep a house.
She was a great seamstress and worked so hard on clothes for us.
She loved the garden and made the yard in Hawaii (with Burke's help) a paradise.
She was a hard worker.
She is so cute with Richard (her son the docta') and with all of her children.
We are so lucky to have her!

One of my favorites

The first time I laughed...
The second time I laughed harder...
And now I can't stop watching.
I don't know what I like more..the older brother's face, or the baby's laugh. :)
Enjoy!

American Idol

I miss being able to talk to Don, Amy and Anna about American Idol every week, so I think I should create this post so we can talk about the show, and who we like.

poe and the simpsons

I'm studying American Romanticism this semester and we're reading Poe. Here's a link to the Simpson's version of "The Raven" It's starring the voice of James Earl Jones and is pretty fantastic:

Life the Universe and Everything

At BYU there is a science fiction gathering happening called Life the Universe and Everything (LTUE). Here is a link. Orson Scott Card (writer of Ender's Game) and Some other writers and artists, that I know of and admire are showing up so I went by. I Found the people amazing and I also got some great ideas on how to start putting ideas forward to maybe start writing a book myself. I have always wanted to write a Novel, but i have never known how to start, and I had a lot of fun getting motivated to start putting ideas in a Sketchbook and see where they may lead me.

Names of those I met today, Brandon Sanderson, Howard Taylor, and Orson Scott Card. It was amazing to see these writers and normal people, and to get to shake their hands, and gush a bit with hero worship. Happy Valentines day everyone, and have some Poppy's Pancakes!

Love,
Joe
