Something The Lord Made

A Movie put out by HBO which explores the life and times of Heart Surgery Pioneers, Alfred Bladock (Alan Rickman) and Vivien Thomas (Mos Def). This was an inspiring tale of two men who worked together to overcome some of the most difficult challenges in surgery, in their time. These two men had an incredible friendship and this movie show some of their lives.

I enjoyed this movie very much. It is always fun to see Alan Rickman in a movie, and the very complications and the fascinating relationship between Bladock and Thomas is so very fun to see and ponder over. I highly recommend Renting this movie, and it definitely makes it onto my Christmas wish list. Since the movie does deal with Surgery I recommend screening it before any little kids see it. I wasn't squeamish during the scenes but I am 22 years old. Nevertheless I loved this movie, and I wish it had gone to theaters, because it was worth the watch.

The Once and Future King

I am not sure how many people have read "The Once and Future King" by T.H. White, but it is one of my favorite Arthurian Novels ever. The Disney Movie, "The Sword in the Stone" is based on The first part of the "The Once and Future King." This Book is very good at trying explain for us in a reasonable way why King and how King Arthur Established his kingdom, while at the same time explaining it's downfall. It is a very touching tale of a mortal man who always wanted to do "right," and how his own Century, and how The teachings of the 20th Century (through his faithful Wizard Merlin) influenced his way of thinking. It is a wonderful dive into the story that still lives on in the hearts of many. I really enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a fun read.

***** out of ***** (There is some violence and adultery in this book which may not make it suitable for young ages (hint: Nathan, Gregory, Katie, William))

New High-5 Ideas - From Nate and John

This is one of Nathan's favorites:
Give me five
Up High
To the side
To the other side
Down low
To the pool (fingers forming a circle)
You're cool!

here is another of the NRB Specials:
Give me five
Up High
To the side
To the other side
Down low
To the blossom (fingers bunched together in a blossom)
You're Awesome!

These can be combined to have a cool and an awesome ending.

Here is John's variation
Give me five
Up High
To the side
To the other side
Down low
To the Sabbatical (hands held in a shrugging position)
You're Radical!
