Something The Lord Made

A Movie put out by HBO which explores the life and times of Heart Surgery Pioneers, Alfred Bladock (Alan Rickman) and Vivien Thomas (Mos Def). This was an inspiring tale of two men who worked together to overcome some of the most difficult challenges in surgery, in their time. These two men had an incredible friendship and this movie show some of their lives.

I enjoyed this movie very much. It is always fun to see Alan Rickman in a movie, and the very complications and the fascinating relationship between Bladock and Thomas is so very fun to see and ponder over. I highly recommend Renting this movie, and it definitely makes it onto my Christmas wish list. Since the movie does deal with Surgery I recommend screening it before any little kids see it. I wasn't squeamish during the scenes but I am 22 years old. Nevertheless I loved this movie, and I wish it had gone to theaters, because it was worth the watch.

Thanks for the tip. I have seen the box and thought aobut picking it up, and will do so now. I like Alan Rickman too, and really like Mos Def. He is great in The Italian Job, and better in The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Also, thanks for the tip on the book. Wendy and I need a good read for the summer, and that will be the first. Incidentally, Patrick Stewart references the book in the closing seen of X2, which brings me to X3... looks good. Too bad Bryan Singer isn't doing it, but we do get him in Superman Returns (the 2nd trailer is on Apple.com - worth a watch) - JBB

I heart Alan Rickman too. I'll have to check the movie out. Soft be it spoken, but I think that the trailors to X3 make it look like it has less plot and more scantily clad women and blowing up machinery. However, I've enjoyed X and X2, and as long as X3 stars Hugh Jackman, I'm in.

Actually while Heart Surgery Pioneers would probably have the Characters of Alfred Bladock and Vivien Thomas, the films would be different. Something the Lord made has only one title (Interesting factoid: One of the books that inspired the Movie was titled "Like Something The Lord Made," a line that refers to how precise heart Surgery is).
