Or as Gregory calls it, bwekstiss.
This morning, I made eggs with sausage, tomatoes, and green Onion in them. I also made freshly grated hash browns. It made me think of Dad's breakfasts.
What are your top breakfasts? Here are mine:
1 - Dad Breakfast
2 - Poppy's
3 - Dutch Baby
4 - Eggs Benedict
5 - Sourdough French Toast
6 - Apple Pie (don't lie, you know you thought "Brilliant!" when you read that)
7 - Sausage McMuffin with Egg (bad I know... but I am a sucker)
8 - Grandma's Raisin Loaf
9 - Pancakes/Waffles
Further Down - Cold Cereal
20,000,000 - Raisin Toast with Peanut Butter (my daily fare - by choice... don't ask why. I can't explain it)
* one note - 1-8 are not in explicit order. in other words, if pushed they could change order.

I love breakfast and wish it was the only meal one had to eat each day....Dad has, however, never bought the idea that breakfast food is a great dinner idea. I love the following:
1. Crisp belgian waffle with butter and maple syrup.
2. Plain scrambled eggs, thick crisp bacon and english muffins with butter and strawberry freezer jam.
3. An Aunt Sondra sweet roll and ice cold milk
4. Poppy's pancake
5. Dutch Baby
6. Pancakes, sausage
7. Oatmeal with raisins and cinnamon sugar
8. Sourdough toast with real butter.
And John, I too love peanut butter on raisin toast. I love peanut butter licked from a knife. But I love raisin toast with real butter even more.
Let's have a Dad breakfast together soon.
Love breakfast....MOM
I love breakfast too! And I have to say that John and Mom hit all of my favorites. I read the list and kept thinking, yeah that one! Yeah that one! But here it is anyhow:
1. Eggs benedict. I had it the first time with Don and Dad driving through Reno on the way home from fish creek. I've never looked back.
2. A really great bacon mushroom swiss omlet.
3. Poppy's pancakes.
4. French toast with hot maple syrup.
5. Country fried steak and eggs.
6. Dad's breakfast
7. NY bodega breakfast sandwiches (cheaper and yummier version of the egg mcmuffin--although John I'm with you on the McD's sausage mcmuffin w/ egg).
8. And mom, I'm w/ you for Aunt Sondra's cinnamon rolls.
9. Grandma's raisin toast w/ butter.
All of these things need to be accompanied by cold cold milk, and in some cases (the eggs) with orange juice.
You mean you prefer cold milk to milk that has been out for an hour? Come on Anna.
weird but true!
speaking of nasty things for breakfast, the brits know lots of stuff, but they don't know breakfast. here it is:
really runny eggs
pork and beans
canned tomatoes
bacon
cold toast
black pudding (which is really disgusting. if you want to know what's in it, contact me.)
Tough list to add to. Amy and I have dutch babies at least once a month. It is probably our all time favorite.
Dad's Big Boy Breakfast, Poppies Pancakes, and Amy's buscuits and gravy (with sausage) all closely rival.
I LOVE Mom B's bread toasted and good sourdough toast with butter is dynamite as well.
Tofu is at the bottom of the list. I have no idea what it is and I'm too afraid to look it up in the Wikipedia.
I've been conferencing all morning with my students. I have 2 more before my break, and I am STARVING! I want to eat everyone's lists. But I will probably go get a Jamba or something. Or maybe some Taco Bell. It's freezing here!
