Happy Birthday Richard

What a surprise came to Don and Margaret Bennion on May 24, 1949 when 2 baby boys, each weighing in at 7+ pounds arrived! How lucky I feel that one of those bouncing baby boys became my husband 24 years later! How I love Richard!
I love him because
he is the most generous person I know
he is unstoppable when he is sure that the thing he is pursuing is right. When all around him give up in exhaustion, he keeps on going
he is an excellent sounding board for ideas
he is interesting and intelligent
he is funny and witty
he is wise and I trust his instincts completely
he loves great art and great literature
he is a fabulous father - knows how to have fun and how to work hard and has been a part of most of the boys scouting adventures
he has taught each of us in our family how to serve others
he can fix just about anything
he is remarkably supportive in the political causes and church activities in which I am involved
he is a loyal friend
he is a first rate genealogist
he is a compassionate doctor who is dearly loved by his patients
he is a romantic and an optimist
he loves to give a "perfect" gift
he loves my family and would do anything for them
he lights up whenever our children are home
he loves my company and makes me feel like I light up his life
he is always ready to pitch in and help with the dishes and the laundry
he is the best thing that ever happened to me!

I love Richard for all the things that Linda has mentioned.
I love Richard because he is more than our son-in-law.
I love him for his kindness and his love and consideration for us all.
I have loved Richard since the day he and Linda appeared at the baggage carousel on my arrival from Honolulu in Los Angeles to announce that they intended to be married.
Richard always brings something special to all occasions, large and small.
Richard has that third sense that always comes up with the right answer for whatever is the need or the question.
Thank you Richard for being yourself!

I love Richard because he is caring and enjoys life.
I love to be with him because he makes me feel good.
He has wonderful ideas. For example our family reunions were started by his efforts.
Richard is always ready to give "a helping hand" to all of us and to worthy causes.
Our working together to make Grandpa's eightieth birthday special with everyone present.
Happy Birthday Richard and God bless you.
I love you.

I like Papa Oo-mau-mau because:
He started a great tradition of tell saying nice things every night before bed.
He sets a great example of serving others.
He and Uncle John have great 'tough guy' stories about when they used to get in school yard fights.
He has great perspective. I appreciated that in so many instances but none more than when I hit the deer in the Acura. Oops. I was driving the Burb to practice 10 minutes after.
He gives great talks in church
He has great insights during lessons and when we read the scriptures
He all around fun to be around
He makes any family get together so much more fun than it would be without him. I think that it is true of everyone in the family but it is more true of Dad than anyone in the family.
He has an open mind.
And it was so fun to be with you in Denmark recently. We look forward to seeing you again in a few weeks.

Love,

Don

I like Dad because:

He is Mr. Indefatiguable.
He has vision. He can picture an outcome and drive to it. Oh yeah, he has incredible drive.
He sets up great projects for us. My personal favorite (ex poste) is the bricklaying at the clocktower.
He has a great sense of humor.
Dad does not take himself too seriously. (eg - he appreciates the movie Iron Man, and the movie A Man for All Seaons)
He is very kind.
He is well-read.
He is adventuresome.
He has great hair.
He is a great example.
He can put any baby to sleep.
He is fun to talk issues with.
Dad treats things (and people) right. I recently watched my friend bash his boat into a dock while launching it. Unimaginable with Dad.
Dad likes to fish.
Dad is traditional, and appreciates tradition. He likes to know his roots and his heritage. Not just the names, but the stories as well.

He is fun to be with and I like him a lot.

Happy Birthday Uncle Richard!

I like Uncle Richard because he is understanding.

He is great to talk to.

He is inventive and has great ideas.

He is kind.

You are never bored around Uncle Richard.

You always feel good around him.

He makes everyone feel special.

He was an inspiration for me, of what a "good dad" should be when I was a little girl in Morgan Hill--and to this day.

I am glad he is a part of my life.

Happy Birthday!
