Happy Birthday, Dear Joey ....

July 8, 1983 was a red letter day in our family! After a brief (but wonderful) pause to have a girl, we returned to the "baby boy" business. What a great reward we had in Joe! Happy birthday to a happy, easy going, delightful son. Happy birthday to you!

I like Joe because he is interesting,
because he works hard,
because he is the best computer guru at Provo Staples (and in our family),
because he is such a good brother (especially to Anna!!!),
because he helps me with difficult birthday gift choices :),
because he wants to do what is right,
and because I think his picture looks a lot like me!
Love,
Dad

PS. Mom loves the external hard drive. She will love it even more when I figure how to get her computer to talk sense to it...

I love Joey because
He is interesting
He loves the most diverse music - in 7th grade, the principal saw him with headphones on in the library...he came up behind Joe and removed the headphones to listen and found to his great surprise and delight that this little 7th grader was listening to Glenn Miller.
He likes to study and learn about specific interests. I remember his middle school study of Glenn Miller and of Nintendo Corp. He and I spent hours in the yard weeding and talking about the birth of Nintendo after Atari.
He is the best gift giver. He always strives to give a gift that is "perfect" and he is always successful.
He is loyal to the family.
He is a computer whiz kid and has saved me from weeks of computer torture with his calm help that is spoken without a foreign accent.
He is true to what he believes.
He is patient.
He is an old fashioned gentleman.
He is appreciative of anything he is given.
He loves great literature and is one of the most well read people I know.
He is willing to learn from his experiences.
He was thee most beautiful baby as well as the most even tempered.
I love you Joe....Happy 24th birthday. MOM

Your Grandma and I love you dearly. Wow! I won't even try to compete with your folks, your brothers and sisters, and your sister-in-laws in listing all your wonderful traits. We now have your birthday on our calendar and won't forget in the future.

Joe, you are a prince of a person! I'll never forget the time you took Nathan around in a stroller while we all shopped in the outlets just outside of Seattle. You bought him a black and white stuffed doggie with your own money. He loved it and he still sleeps with it on his bed. Thanks for being so wonderful!
Love,
Wendy
